Welcome to our pilot study on the understanding of fundamental concepts of "Hypothesis Testing". Please note that the focus of the study is on the meaning of these concepts as they appear in "classical" approaches to statistical testing (i.e., Fisher, Neyman-Pearson)
If you intend to answer these questions, please press the start button below to enter the survey page. We will present a set of 20 individual problems that relate to three general topics. Please answer the problems, without looking at a textbook or searching the internet for best answers, using one of the provided options.
As this is a pilot study, at the end of the survey we will ask you about your opinion of the survey, proposals for improving the survey, and suggestions for additional tasks that should be included to give us a better understanding of (mis)conceptions about hypothesis testing. Also, please do not hesitate to criticise anything that appears unclear, wrong, or inadequate for whatever reason and may help us to achieve our goals.
